Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Men's Basketball team fell 78-63 to Nichols College Wednesday evening. Nichols utilized a furious comeback late in the first half to overcome a double-digit deficit and go into halftime up by 14.

Josh Syska (Peabody, Mass.) laid in the first basket of the game before Marcos Echevarria (Lynn, Mass.) answered with a three-pointer. The Hawks would eventually regain the lead on a three-point play by
Conor O'Brien (Sharon, Mass.) for a 9-7 edge.
From there, the Hawks would maintain its lead for most of the early part of the half. A bucket at the 9:10 mark by
Austin Coene (Tyngsborough, Mass.) helped give RWU its largest lead of the game, a 25-14 advantage.
Tyler Dion (Barre, Mass.) came down the other end and buried a three-pointer for Nichols, which would kick start the Nichols comeback. The Bison held Roger Williams to only four points over the remainder of the period as part of their 29-4 run to turn an 11-point deficit into a 14 point lead going into halftime.
The Bison held on to its lead throughout the entire second half. Roger Williams came as close as nine, with
Justin Leip (Natick, Mass.) hitting a three to make it a 44-53 game with 11:10 to go. However, Nichols came right back with nine straight points to extend the lead to 18 with 8:36 left. The Bison led by double figures the rest of the way.
Echevarria dropped 30 points in the game for the Bison to lead all scorers. Dion and Devin Stallings (Waterbury, Conn.) each finished with 11 points.
Coene led Roger Williams with 18 points, while
Jaylen Jennings (Norwalk, Conn.) added 12 points off the bench. O'Brien chipped in with eight points and eight rebounds.
On Saturday, Roger Williams (14-4, 8-3 CCC) hosts Eastern Nazarene College, while Nichols (13-5, 8-3 CCC) will welcome Gordon College.
