Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Men's Tennis team began Commonwealth Coast Conference play with an 8-1 victory over Western New England University Wednesday afternoon.
RWU took all three doubles flights to begin the day 3-0.
Grant Rosenberg (Melville, N.Y.) and
Nick Spoor (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) notched an 8-5 over David Kalmer and Justin Kohut at #1. At #2,
Jake Cole (Westford, Mass.) and
Matthew Russo (Branford, Conn.) downed Daniel O'Neill and Luke Surawski 8-3, while
Matty Feldman (Duxbury, Mass.) and
Brendan White (Old Lyme, Conn.) collected an 8-1 win at #3.
At singles, White swept Kohut 6-0, 6-0 at #2, while Rosenberg earned a 6-0, 6-2 victory at #3. Spoor notched a 6-2, 6-2 win against Michael Tran at #4, and
Alex Bonanno (Westford, Mass.) won 6-1, 6-3 at #5 over Griffin Arnold. Russo picked a 6-1, 6-1 win at #6 for RWU's fifth singles win. Kalmer had WNE's lone win, holding on for a 7-6 (2), 6-7 (4), 10-8 decision over Cole at #1.
Roger Williams (4-2, 1-0 CCC) will complete its suspended match against Curry tomorrow, while Western New England (3-4, 0-1 CCC) hosts Endicott tomorrow as well.
