Box Score NEWPORT, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Men's Tennis team ended the regular season with a 9-0 shutout victory over Salve Regina University Monday afternoon.
The Hawks swept all three doubles flights without dropping a game, taking each match by an 8-0 score.
Grant Rosenberg (Melville, N.Y.) and
Nick Spoor (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) grabbed the win at #1 over DJ Bisaillon and Will Masse, while
Jake Cole (Sterling, Va.) and
Matthew Russo (Branford, Conn.) defeated Alessio Ayuninjam and Kevin Hunt at #2.
Thomas O'Leary (North Easton, Mass.) and
Brendan White (Old Lyme, Conn.) downed Zach Monahan and Dante Petrosino at #3.
At singles, White earned a 6-0, 6-1 win over Masse at #1, with Cole downing Bisaillon 6-2, 6-1 at #2. Rosenberg and Russo each collected 6-1, 6-0 victories at #3 and #4 over Monahan and Petrosino, respectively.
Alex Bonanno (Westford, Mass.) wrapped up the win for Roger Williams, taking down Ayuninjam 6-0, 6-0. The Hawks collected the win at #6 singles by injury default.
Roger Williams (9-7, 5-3 CCC) will begin play in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament Saturday.
