Box Score BOSTON, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Men's Tennis team earned its first dual match victory of the 2017-18 season with a 9-0 win over UMass-Boston Sunday afternoon.
Jake Cole (Sterling, Va.) and
Thomas O'Leary (North Easton, Mass.) opened the match with an 8-2 win against Ray Plateel and Sanshrut Sharma at #3.
Jared Deibe (Oakland, N.J.) and
Brendan White (Old Lyme, Conn.) stepped up next, also defeating O. Momoka and Tin Tran by an 8-2 score at #2.
Grant Rosenberg (Melville, N.Y.) and
Nick Spoor (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) wrapped up the sweep by downing Austin DeLasse and Josh Bhasin 9-7 at #1.
At singles, Spoor began with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Tran at #3, while Rosenberg downed Basin 6-3, 6-1 at #2. Cole followed next with the 6-1, 6-1 victory over Sharma at #4. At #5, O'Leary earned a 6-3, 6-0 win against Plattel. Rounding out the day was White's 6-3, 6-4 win against DeLasse at #1 and Deibe's 6-1, 6-3 win over Momoka at #6.
Roger Williams will be done for the rest of 2017 and compete at the Drew Invite in February.
