PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Women's Volleyball could not pull off the upset over #3 Johnson & Wales University Friday evening, as the Hawks fell 0-3 to the Wildcats.
The Hawks kept pace with JWU in the first set, staying within three points of the Wildcats throughout most of the game. The turning point came with the match tied at 20 apiece. JWU scored four of the final five points to come away with the 25-21 win.
In the second set, the Hawks held the lead early on while the Wildcats stayed within a couple of points of the Hawks. With the match tied at 21 apiece, Johnson & Wales scored the final four points of the set to take the game 25-21 and a 2-0 lead.
In the final set, RWU fell behind early, as JWU took a 10-5 lead to begin the set. JWU would extend the lead to 11 before eventually taking the match with a 25-12 win.
Katherine Pickard (St. Petersburg, Fla.) led RWU with nine kills, while
Maddie Neuberger (Remsenburg, N.Y.) added five kills and a block assist.
Julia Fields (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) added 27 assists, while
Kate Grabowski (Hebron, Conn.) had 17 digs.
Roger Williams (11-10) will face Coast Guard Academy tomorrow at 5pm.
