Wrestling Earns Three More Wins on the Road

BRISTOL, R.I. — The Roger Williams University Wrestling Team who was recently ranked #13 won against the American International College this Friday, 34-19.
 
Both Adam Patsun (Somers, Conn.) and Kyle Kaiser (Paramus, N.J.) each posted pins for RWU shutting out both their opponents 6-0 to start the match.
 
Nathaniel Lindsay (Brookline, N.H.) took a win in a majority decision winning 13-4 over his opponent to put RWU up 28-12. No. 5 Taylor Shay (New Fairfield, Conn.) then posted a pin against his opponent in 46 seconds to earn six more points for RWU.
 
Although both Isaiah Collins (East Hartford, Conn.) and Raul Martinez (Middletown, N.Y.) for AIC won in a decision, RWU took the win 34-19.
 
The team also took a victory over Bridgewater State this past Friday, 31-15. 

Tristan Haviland (Trumbull, Conn.) was first to get points on the board for RWU in a major decision at 11-3 scoring four points for the team. 

Sean Wieck (East Northport, N.Y.) and Ryan Grebe (South Beach, N.Y.) both won in a decision to put RWU up 10-9. Travis Arata (Mahwah, N.J.) then won in a major decision 14-0 to give RWU four more points.

Dennis Ferro (Great River, N.Y.) finished the match with a pin in 3:49 to bring the score to 25-9. 

After an injury deficit, Ryan Higgins (Billerica, Mass.) for Bridgewater took the win, with RWU finishing the match 31-15. 
 
The Hawks took their third win of the night against Springfield College 20-14.
 
Anthony Malfitano (Pearl River, N.Y.) won the first match in a majority decision 2-1 against opponent George Tarwo (Concord, N.H.) in the 197.
 
Kaiser and Shay defeated their second opponents of the evening in the 125 and 165 pound brackets. Kaiser won 3-0 against opponent Nicholas DeRosa (Billerica, Mass.) and Shay won by technical foul 18-3.
 
Tyler Gazaway (New Providence, N.J.) won 6-0 by decision in the 157, Brett Leonard (New Milford, Conn.) won 9-4 in the 174, and Ryan DeLoach (Bethlehem, Pa.) defeated Seve Burgos (Guilford, Conn.) 7-5 in the 184.
 
The Hawks face Navy Prep, Western New England, Johnson & Wales, Bergen Community, and Wheeling Jesuit on December 15th at 11 a.m in Bristol, R.I.
