BRISTOL, R.I. - The Roger Williams University Wrestling team swept its two matches against New England College and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute this past weekend, downing NEC 45-3 and defeating RPI 56-0.

In the opener, New England College opened with a quick 3-0 decision at 125. However, that would be the only victory the Pilgrims earned against the Hawks. Tristan Haviland (Trumbull, Conn.) quickly grabbed the lead for RWU with a 20-4 technical fall over Tyler Tweedie at 133. Ryan Luchs (Newton, N.J.) followed with an 8-4 win over Najee Hall at 141 to put RWU up 8-3.

Michael Mirmina and
Peter Hilburn (Roselle Park, N.J.) each earned major decisions for the Hawks on the day at 157 and 174, respectively, while Jarrett Legg (Champlain Valley, Vt.) notched a pin and Mike Fernandes (Voorhees, N.J.) shut out his opponent 17-0 at 197 for the Hawks.

Against RPI, the Hawks dominated the field, with Luchs, Mirmina, and
Adam Patsun (Somers, Conn.) each pinning their Engineer opponents. Rounding out the bouts for RWU were Haviland downing Brian Gembarski 20-5 and Legg defeating Jean Souvern Rioux 10-4. Roger Williams would win the other five matches via forfeit towards the easy win.
