Box Score BRISTOL, R.I .- The Roger Williams University Men's Basketball team lost to Endicott College Saturday afternoon with a final score of 72-70.
The game started with honoring the team's seniors:
Nick Marini (Loudonville, N.Y.),
Jaylen Jennings (Norwalk, Conn.), and
Conor O'Brien (Sharon, Mass.).
O'Brien led the team with a total of 21 points and added seven rebounds. Austin Coene (Tyngsborough, Mass.) scored 17 points with six rebounds, and Marini added 13 points, eight rebounds, and five assists.
Matt McDevitt (Cumberland, Maine) led Endicott with 18 points, while Keith Brown (Pelham, N.H.) had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Joel Villa (Bronx, N.Y.) finished with 10 points.
Endicott had the lead at the start of the half, but Roger Williams quickly caught up with Coene (Tyngsborough, Mass.) making a basket. Endicott got the lead back as Brown made a three-pointer. With 12:53 left in the half, the game was tied 10-10 and the Gulls got the lead back with Nick Thibeault (Gorham, Maine) making a shot. Both teams were fighting for the lead as it continuously was a tie game. Endicott found its rhythm after a Brown layup put the Gulls up 16-14 with 7:13 left in the first half. Endicott would lead the rest of the period with a score of 33-25 at the end of the half.
At the beginning of the second half, the Hawks tried to get the lead. O'Brien and Jennings were the key players for the start of this half, combining for the first seven points of the period. The Gulls still remained with a steady lead throughout the half.
The end of the half was where things started to pick up. The Hawks managed to come back and tie the game at 70 on a Coene free throw. However, Brown scored the final points on a pair of free throws resulting in Endicott defeating Roger Williams 72-70.
Roger Williams (17-8, 11-7 CCC), who has earned the fourth seed, will take on University of New England, the fifth seed, on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the CCC quarter finals. Endicott (17-8, 12-6 CCC) has earned the third seed and will take on Wentworth, who has earned the sixth seed in the CCC quarterfinals.
