Men’s Basketball Moves Past Eastern Nazarene

Box Score QUINCY, Mass. - The Eastern Nazarene College men's basketball team fell to Roger Williams 72-54 Wednesday evening at the Lahue Physical Education Center.
 
The Lions dip to 7-15 on the season and 3-12 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the loss. The Hawks improve to 16-6 overall and 10-5 in league action with the win.
 
David Lopez (Miami, Fla.) notched nine points, seven rebounds, three assists, and a pair of steals on the night. Trey'von Davis (Moore, S.C.) finished with eight points and eight boards. Luke Dagley (Weymouth, Mass.) chipped in with eight points off the bench while Robbion Harris (Steilacoom, Wash.) and Josh Rice (Hanson, Mass.) both added six points.
 
A back-and-forth start to the contest yielded seven lead changes and two tie scores.
 
The visitors strung together a pair of free throws and a layup to grab a 22-17 advantage with 8:32 left to play in the first half.
 
The home side battled back to level the game at 24-24 as Noah Cheney (Bend, Ore.) powered in a fast-break layup with 6:44 remaining in the opening period.
 
Eastern Nazarene reclaimed the lead with 4:53 to go in the first frame as Lopez splashed a trey from the right corner, 27-25.

The Lions posted a field-goal percentage of 40.6% in the first half while connecting on 5-of-14 from beyond the arc. The Hawks shot 51.9% from the floor and 30.8% from three-point distance in the opening frame.
 
Lopez led the hosts with nine points and five rebounds while Rice tallied six points.
 
The guests started the second stanza with a 21-4 run to widen the gap to 57-35 with 10:48 remaining in regulation.
 
Roger Williams maintained its double-digit lead throughout the remainder of the contest to earn its fourth-consecutive victory.
 
The Lions shot 38.3% from the floor and 29.2% from behind the three-point line on the night. The Hawks finished with a field-goal percentage of 53.7% while draining 8-of-23 three-point attempts.
