PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Wrestling team took center stage at the Providence Performing Arts Center Thursday evening to face #4 Johnson & Wales. Unfortunately the Wildcats came away with a 28-12 victory over RWU
The Hawks trailed 0-12 early after the Wildcats took the first three bouts. JWU's Jay Albis earned a major decision over
Nicholas Barbaria (Scarsdale, N.Y.) at 125 followed by a technical fall for Joao Vincente against Tristan Haviland at 133. Joe Ferinde downed Nick Wagner (Wall, N.J.) at 141 for the 12-point advantage.
Justin Cochran (Paramus, N.J.) came back with a 4-2 at 149 to put the Hawks on the board. Tyler Gazaway (New Providence, N.J.) then kept the momentum in RWU's favor with a pin at 3:40 to bring RWU within three (9-12).
After the break, Tim Higginson collected a major decision over Taylor Shay (New Fairfield, Conn.) at 157. The match of the night came at 165 between Brett Leonard (New Milford, Conn.) and Adrian Gonzalez. Gonzalez erased a four-point deficit with less than 20 seconds left in the third period then came away with the 9-7 sudden victory for a six-point swing in the Wildcats' favor.

Connor Humphries (East Longmeadow, Mass.) 5-3 at 184 followed by a pin for MIchael DiNardo over Mike Fernandes (Voorhees, N.J.) at 197.
Adam Patsun (Somers, Conn.) closed out the evening with a 7-3 win for RWU over Michael Larm.
