SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Men's Tennis team will enter the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament as the #3 seed. The Hawks will host #6 Western New England on Saturday at 11:00am in the CCC Quarterfinals.
Nichols posted a perfect 8-0 CCC record (17-3 overall) to claim the CCC Regular-Season title and the top seed in the upcoming CCC Championship Tournament.
One team looking to challenge the defending champions is Eastern Nazarene, which fell to Nichols in last year's championship, 5-3. The Lions' only conference loss this season came at the hands of the Bison as they put together at 7-1 CCC record (15-3 overall) and earned the No. 2 seed.
As the top two seeds, both Nichols and Eastern Nazarene earn byes into the CCC Semifinals where they will wait on the results of the quarterfinal games on Saturday, April 28.
The first quarterfinal pits No. 3 seed Roger Williams against No. 6 seed Western New England at 11 a.m. in Bristol, R.I. The Hawks finished the year with a 6-2 CCC mark (9-5 overall) with the Golden Bears going 3-5 in league play (8-6 overall). In the second quarterfinal, No. 5 seed Gordon takes the short trip to No. 4 seed Endicott with first serve set for 1 p.m. Endicott finished the regular season with a 5-3 CCC record (10-7 overall), while Gordon went 4-4 in the conference (7-10 overall).
The semifinal round will take place on Wednesday, May 2. The winner of the Endicott-Gordon match will visit Nichols and Eastern Nazarene will host the winner of Roger Williams and WNE. Game times for the CCC Semifinals will be announced following the conclusion of the quarterfinals.
The two semifinal winners will meet in the CCC Men's Tennis Championship on Saturday, May 5. The CCC Tournament Champion will receive the conference's automatic qualifier into the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championship.
