Men’s Tennis Moves On To CCC Semis

Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. – The #3 seed Roger Williams University Men's Tennis team advanced to the Commonwealth Coast Conference Semifinals after defeated #6 Western New England by a 5-1 margin.
 
Jake Cole (Sterling, Va.) and Thomas O'Leary (North Easton, Mass.) gave RWU a quick 1-0 lead with an 8-0 win over Matt Russell (Auburn, Mass.) and Michael Tran (West Haven, Conn.) at #3 doubles. Jared Deibe (Oakland, N.J.) and Brendan White (Old Lyme, Conn.) followed with an 8-1 win over Max Gordon (Middleton, Mass.) and Luke Surawski (Wethersfield, Conn.) at #2.
 
David Kalmer (Slingerlands, N.Y.) and Justin Kohut (South Windsor, Conn.) got Western New England on the board with their 8-2 win over Grant Rosenberg (Melville, N.Y.) and Nick Spoor (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) at #1.
 
O'Leary got a 6-0, 6-1 win over Russell at #6 singles to aid the Hawk cause. Cole later followed with his 6-0, 6-2 victory against Tran at #3, pulling RWU within one point. Spoor would close out the match after downing Gordon 6-2, 6-2 to move RWU into the semifinals.
 
Roger Williams (10-5) will face #2 Eastern Nazarene on Tuesday. Western New England closes out the year with a record of 8-7.
