NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Roger Williams University Men's Tennis team continued the Fall portion of their season this past weekend at the Connecticut College Invitational.
Dan Tocco (East Quogue, N.Y.) and
Nick Spoor (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) made it to the Doubles A championship round with an 8-6 win over Thomas Hackett and Jack Phillips of Coast Guard. However they would be downed 8-5 in the championship match.
At Doubles C,
Jared Deibe (Oakland, N.J.) and
Thomas O'Leary (North Easton, Mass.) managed to claim third place with an 8-2 win against Freddie Moffa and Dre DeLorenzo of Springfield.
Matty Feldman (Duxbury, Mass.) and
Miles Conlin (Branford, Conn.) took second place at Doubles D, beginning with an 8-0 shutout of Hieu Ton and Lucas VanDeventer of Springfield of Springfield. Unfortunately they were held off 8-1 by Shrikar Kundur and Christian Otero of NYU in the championship.
Jared Gansert (Scituate, R.I.) and
Tyler Cain (Montpelier, Vt.) also collected second place at Doubles E. They advanced 8-6 to the championship match over Adam Katz and Jack Anastopoulos of Springfield before an 8-2 setback to Brandon Ameglio and Zak Danz of Connecticut College.
At singles, Deibe swept Steven Ludtke of Springfield 6-0, 6-0 at Singles C but finished second after falling 6-3, 6-4 to Henry DeCoster of Connecticut College. Spoor would claim third place at Singles E, winning his third-place match 6-2, 6-4 against Springfield's Ton.
Also earning third place finishes for RWU were Gansert at Singles I and Conlin at Singles J. Cain posted a runner-up result at Singles H.
