PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Roger Williams University wrestling team competed in the Plymouth State Invitational on Saturday afternoon and placed second out of 10 teams.

The teams that competed were Castleton, Johnson & Wales, Southern Maine, Bridgewater State, STCC, Plymouth State, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Maine Maritime.

Hawk's Sean Wieck (East Northport, N.Y.) defeated all three of his opponents (6-5, 18-2, 7-6) to become the champion of the 133 pound bracket.

Luke Bokina (Mattituck, N.Y.) of the 149, also won in the championships by a major decision 9-0 against JWU's Darius Joyce (Easton, Pa). Leading up to the final win, Bokina defeated his two other opponents 16-6 and got a pin at 1:22.

Nathanial Lindsay (Brookline, N.H.) lost to JWU opponent in the finals 6-2 but had a very successful day on the mats being victorious against three other competitors. Included in the wins was an impressive 2-0 pin at 1:06 in the quarter finals.

Andy Lombard (Monroe Township, N.J.) at 141, Eli Wilson ( Brewster, Mass.) at 174, and Armani Dotson (Mattapan, Mass.) at 197 all made it to the semi-finals of the invitational.

The Hawks also faced Rochester Institute of Technology, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and Trinity in a separate location on Saturday.

The Hawks lost to number 25 RIT 21-17 in the first match but not without a fight.

Kyle Kaiser (Paramus, N.J.) pinned his opponent at 2:48 in the 125-pound weight class and took home a win for the Hawks. Taylor Shay (New Fairfield, Conn.) who has recently moved up to #3 in the rankings, defeated his #8 opponent by a decision 5-4.

Chris Fuschetto (Clark, N.J.) at 141, Travis Arata (Mahwah, N.J.) at 174, and Ryan DeLoach (Bethlehem, Pa.) at 184 also had wins against their RIT opponents. Despite a close match, losses from a few of RWU's key wrestlers and a pin in the last match created an unsuccessful outcome in the first round of the day against RIT.

In their second match, the Hawks lost against WPI 23-17.

RWU's Tyler Gazaway (New Providence, N.J.) in the 149-pound weight class earned a win beating his opponent Peter Nash (Liverpool, N.Y.) by a technical fall 16-0 while teammate Anthonoy Malfitano (Pearl River, N.Y.) also took down his opponent by a decision 3-1 at 197.

Winning their second match of the day were Kaiser at 125, Fuschetto at 141, and Shay at 165. However, the Hawks couldn't come up with the win over WPI.

The last match of the day resulted in a win for the Hawks against Trinity 31-12.

Kaiser (125), Seth Frohnheiser (Allentown, Pa.) (133), Fuschetto (141), Gazaway (149), Shay (165), Arata (174), Deloach (184), and Noah Tandy (        West Orange, N.J.) (197) all pulled off wins against their opponents to help the Hawks gain their first win of the day.

The Hawks will head to Providence on the 20th to compete in the New England Duals.
