PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Roger Williams University wrestling team competed in the Plymouth State Invitational on Saturday afternoon and placed second out of 10 teams.Â

The teams that competed were Castleton, Johnson & Wales, Southern Maine, Bridgewater State, STCC, Plymouth State, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Maine Maritime.

Hawk's
Sean Wieck (East Northport, N.Y.) defeated all three of his opponents (6-5, 18-2, 7-6) to become the champion of the 133 pound bracket.
Â
Luke Bokina (Mattituck, N.Y.) of the 149, also won in the championships by a major decision 9-0 against JWU's Darius Joyce (Easton, Pa). Leading up to the final win, Bokina defeated his two other opponents 16-6 and got a pin at 1:22.

Nathanial Lindsay (Brookline, N.H.) lost to JWU opponent in the finals 6-2 but had a very successful day on the mats being victorious against three other competitors. Included in the wins was an impressive 2-0 pin at 1:06 in the quarter finals.

Andy Lombard (Monroe Township, N.J.) at 141,
Eli Wilson ( Brewster, Mass.) at 174, and
Armani Dotson (Mattapan, Mass.) at 197 all made it to the semi-finals of the invitational.

The Hawks also faced Rochester Institute of Technology, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and Trinity in a separate location on Saturday.

The Hawks lost to number 25 RIT 21-17 in the first match but not without a fight.
Â
Kyle Kaiser (Paramus, N.J.) pinned his opponent at 2:48 in the 125-pound weight class and took home a win for the Hawks.
Taylor Shay (New Fairfield, Conn.) who has recently moved up to #3 in the rankings, defeated his #8 opponent by a decision 5-4. Â

Chris Fuschetto (Clark, N.J.) at 141,
Travis Arata (Mahwah, N.J.) at 174, and
Ryan DeLoach (Bethlehem, Pa.) at 184 also had wins against their RIT opponents. Despite a close match, losses from a few of RWU's key wrestlers and a pin in the last match created an unsuccessful outcome in the first round of the day against RIT.

In their second match, the Hawks lost against WPI 23-17.

Tyler Gazaway (New Providence, N.J.) in the 149-pound weight class earned a win beating his opponent Peter Nash (Liverpool, N.Y.) by a technical fall 16-0 while teammate Anthonoy Malfitano (Pearl River, N.Y.) also took down his opponent by a decision 3-1 at 197.

Winning their second match of the day were Kaiser at 125, Fuschetto at 141, and Shay at 165. However, the Hawks couldn't come up with the win over WPI. Â

The last match of the day resulted in a win for the Hawks against Trinity 31-12.

Seth Frohnheiser (Allentown, Pa.) (133), Fuschetto (141), Gazaway (149), Shay (165), Arata (174), Deloach (184), and
Noah Tandy (Â Â Â Â Â Â Â West Orange, N.J.) (197) all pulled off wins against their opponents to help the Hawks gain their first win of the day.

Gazaway won by technical fall 18-1 against opponent Joseph Penna (Reading, Mass.) and Kaiser won by major decision 14-0.

The Hawks will head to Providence on the 20
th to compete in the New England Duals. Â
