How It Happened
Roger Williams got off to a hot start, scoring the first six points of the set as part of a 14-4 opening run. RWU never looked back, closing the set on another 6-0 run to take the 25-13 win.
In the second set, the Hawks broke a 2-2 tie with eight straight points for a 10-2 lead. Western New England managed to make a comeback, taking advantage of four straight RWU attack errors to pull within two (14-16). However, RWU was able to hold off the Golden Bears to earn the 25-19 win and take a 2-0 lead.
Another strong start for Roger Williams in the third set put RWU up 6-1. Yet Western New England stormed back to tie the set at 11. From there, the game would be back and forth with six ties and three lead changes. The Golden Bears would hold off a late run by the Hawks and escape with a 25-22 win.
The fourth set began in Western New England's favor with four straight points as part of a 7-1 run. RWU was able to eventually tie the set at 13 apiece before another 4-0 WNE run. Roger Williams stormed back to tie things at 20 then hold a 24-23 advantage. A service error would tie the set back up at 24, but RWU claimed the match with a
Katherine Pickard kill and a block by
