How It Happened
Roger Williams scored the first three points of the opening set before Curry came back to tie things at six. The Hawks would use an 8-3 run to go up by five and force a Colonel timeout. After the timeout, Roger Williams would score five more points in a row to take an 11-point lead. RWU would eventually take the set by a 25-13 margin.
A kill and an RWU attack error gave Curry the first two points of the second set. However, the Hawks answered with a 10-0 run to go up by eight. From there, Curry was unable to cut the deficit closer than five the rest of the game as RWU claimed the set 25-14.
The third set was close early on with both teams trading points back and forth. With the score tied 3-3, RWU pulled away with a 6-1 run to take a five-point lead. Roger Williams would extend that lead to eight (18-10) and ultimately capture the match 25-16 with a
Katie Welcher (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) kill.
