Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Smith and Wheaton

NORTON, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Women's Volleyball team collected a pair of wins Saturday afternoon, defeating Smith College 3-0 and Wheaton College 3-2.

How It Happened
The Hawks began the day with a 3-0 victory over Smith College in the tri-match. Roger Williams took the first set 25-18, leading the entire way. In the following set, RWU broke a six-all tie with an 11-6 run for a five-point lead. RWU would eventually take the set 25-17. In the third set, the Hawks rallied from a five-point deficit (11-16) with a 12-2 run en route to claiming the match with the 25-20 win.
 
Against Wheaton, the Hawks grabbed a 1-0 lead after taking the opening set 25-20. Wheaton came back to take the second set 22-25, holding the Hawks at bay throughout the set. Roger Williams took a 2-1 lead after coming back from a six-point deficit to win the third set 25-19. Wheaton would force a deciding fifth set after rallying from 21-24 to win 26-24. In the fifth set, RWU pulled away halfway through the game, taking an 11-5 lead and winning the set 15-7.
