How It Happened
The Hawks got off to a hot start, scoring the first six points of the game as part of an 11-2 opening run. RWU would go up by as many as 14 (23-9) before taking a 23-11 lead after the first quarter.
In the second, RWU would extend the lead to 18 (34-16) with just over four minutes to play. Yet Wheaton closed out the half strong, using an 11-0 run to make it a seven-point game going into the break.
The Lyons continued to climb their way into the game in the third quarter, pulling within two (36-38) with just under five minutes left in the period. RWU would then extend the advantage back to double digits and ultimately take an 11-point lead into the final quarter (50-39).
In the fourth, back-to-back three pointers by
Sophie Araneo on the first two Hawk possessions built the lead back to 15 for RWU. Wheaton would not come closer than nine the rest of the way as RWU cruised to the win.
