PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Women's Basketball team fell 45-58 to in-state rival Rhode Island College Sunday afternoon in a non-conference contest.

How It Happened
Roger Williams went on top early, taking a 7-4 lead in the first three minutes of the game. Rhode Island College would tie the game up at nine, followed by a two-minute scoreless stretch for both teams. RWU took a brief 12-11 advantage with 2:33 left in the first quarter, but the Anchorwomen ended the quarter on an 8-0 run to go up by seven.
In the second, the Hawks rolled off eight straight points to regain the lead before RIC came back with an 8-0 run of their own. The Hawks were held to only two points in the final seven minutes of the half as Rhode Island College took a 32-22 lead into halftime.
The third saw the Hawks trail throughout the period. Roger Williams was able to cut it to six by the end of the quarter (36-42), followed by a
Sam Leone three to begin the fourth to make it a three-point game. However five quick points built the lead back up to seven for Rhode Island College. The Hawk offense stalled in the early part of the fourth, held to only two points over a six minute stretch as RIC was able to build the lead to 13. RWU would not be able to overcome the deficit, allowing RIC to earn the win.
