BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Wrestling team was bested by #2 Johnson & Wales University Friday evening, with the Wildcats taking the win 39-7.
Jay Albis (Fishkill, N.Y.) for JWU took the win over
Chris Gural (Roselle Park, N.J.) via medical forfeit, putting the Wildcats on the board 6-0.
At 133, Christopher Caban (Lodi, N.J.) for JWU earned the next four points over
Kyle Kaiser (Paramus, N.J.) in a 10-2 decision. The Wildcats kept strong at 141 with Joe Ferinde (Nutley, N.J.) pinning
Chris Fuschetto (Clark, N.J.) with 46 seconds left in the third period, putting the score at 16-0.
JWU's Da'Mani Burns (Newburgh, N.Y.) then overcame
Luke Bokina (Mattituck, N.J.) at 149 with another pin at 6:43. Earning the first win of the night for the Hawks was
Jack Kelly (Wall, N.J.) at 157 in a decision 8-3 over Thomas Grippi (Bedford Hills, N.Y.), putting the score at 3-22. The Wildcats came back with a pin by Chris Behen (Danvers, Mass.) winning in 1:17 at 165 against
Nathaniel Lindsay (Brookline, N.H.).

Brett Leonard (New Milford, Conn.) took the win for the Hawks at 174 in a 9-1 major decision over Bailey O'Brien (Locust Valley, N.Y.) to give RWU four more points. In a 9-3 decision, Khamri Thomas (Windsor Locks, Conn.) defeated
Ryan DeLoach (Bethlehem, Pa.) at 184 to extend the Wildcats lead to 31-7.
At 197, Michael DiNardo (Old Bridge, N.J.) took a decision 3-2 over
Anthony Malfitano (Pearl River, N.Y.) to put JWU's lead at 34-7. To seal the match, Tommy Wrzesien (Hope Valley, R.I.) at 285 won via technical fall 17-2 over
Adam Patsun (Somers, Conn.).
Both RWU (12-9) and JWU (23-4) will be heading to the Futures Tournament in Hartford, Conn. on February 17.
