BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Men's Tennis team collected a 7-2 non-conference win over the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth Tuesday afternoon.
The Hawks began the day with two victories at doubles.
Miles Conlin (Branford, Conn.) and
Brendan White (Old Lyme, Conn.) set down Anthony Joseph (Acushnet, Mass.) and Tristin Viale (Westfield, Mass.) at the #1 flight while
Tyler Cain (Montpelier, Vt.) and
Malcolm Hammond (Edgartown, Mass.) defeated Kyle Noseworthy (Dartmouth, Mass.) and Sean Nutter 8-2 at #3. Eli Brooks (Franklin, Mass.) and Baylen Harper (Leicester, Mass.) had the sole doubles win for the Corsairs with an 8-6 victory at #2 against
Jake Cole (Sterling, Va.) and
Matty Feldman (Duxbury, Mass.)
At singles, Cole and Conlin both notches 6-2, 6-3 wins, with Cole beating Viale at #2 and Conlin winning against Noseworthy. White picked up a 6-2, 6-2 win over Brooks at #1 and Feldman notched a 6-3, 6-2 win over Harper at #3. Cain had Roger Williams' final win at singles, earning a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Nutter. Dan Botelho (Somerset, Mass.) picked up a 6-4, 6-1 win at #6 over Hammond for the lone singles win for UMass-Dartmouth.
Roger Williams (2-1) begins Commonwealth Coast Conference play Saturday at home against Western New England while UMass-Dartmouth (2-4) hosts Johnson & Wales tomorrow.
