Women’s Lacrosse Wins In A Rout Over Salve Regina

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Women's Lacrosse rolled to a 19-7 Commonwealth Coast Conference win over Salve Regina University Wednesday evening.
 
Emily Stoeppel (Brookline, Conn.) scored first for Roger Williams two minutes into the game. Salve would come back with three straight goals over the next four minutes by Stefanie Salisbury, Kaity Doherty, and Olivia Slysz for a 3-0 lead. Stoeppel would halt the Seahawk run with a score at the 23:16 mark.
 
Her goal would kick off a 6-0 Hawk run with additional scores by Devon Sarazin (Falmouth, Maine), Deland Erickson (Concord, N.H.), and Lauren Flahive (Foxborough, Mass.). Slysz scored for Salve with 8:34 left in the half, but RWU ended the half with three goals, two of which by Shayne Rivard (Easton, Conn.) to take a 10-4 halftime lead.
 
Ashley Warren (Wilmington, Mass.) and Nicole Smith traded a pair of goals for both teams before the Hawks used a 5-0 run to put the game out of reach with nine minutes left. Flahive and Sarazin scored the final two games for RWU to complete the 12-goal win.
 
Stoeppel led RWU with nine points on five goals and four assists to go along with five draw controls and two caused turnovers. Sarazin (3 G, 2 A), Flahive (4 G, 1 A), and Warren (4 G, 1 A) all finished with five points each. Madi Drain (Waterboro, Maine) added three draw controls and three caused turnovers. Lydia Nelson (Center Moriches, N.Y.) finished with 14 saves in the win.
 
Roger Williams (9-4, 5-0 CCC) will host Wentworth Institute of Technology Saturday on Senior Day.
