Women’s Lacrosse Drops Contest To Endicott

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Roger Williams University Women's Lacrosse team fell 15-4 to Endicott College Saturday afternoon in a battle between the top two teams in the Commonwealth Coast Conference.

Jackie Healy (Northborough, Mass.) gave the Gulls the lead at the 24:52 mark with her 24th goal of the season. Jennifer Lacroix (Wrentham, Mass.) and Meghan Dutchyshyn (Cheshire, Conn.) later following with goals in the next two minutes for a quick 3-0 Endicott advantage.

Lacroix and Aleah MacKay (Bedford, N.H.) both scored later in the half for a commanding 5-0 lead for the Gulls less than ten minutes into the game. Emily Stoeppel (Brookfield, Conn.) ended the Endicott run with a goal at the 20:52 mark off of a pass from Ashley Warren (Wilmington, Mass.).

Dutchyshyn would make it a 6-1 game with a score with 17:10 left in the first half, following by another score by Julia Lanteri (Glastonbury, Conn.) five minutes later. The Gulls would pour in three more goals by the end of the half, including a tally from Katie Wagner (Brewster, N.Y.) with just 1.9 seconds on the clock to give Endicott a 10-1 halftime lead.

In the second half, the Hawks could not get the offense going early, as the team was held without a score over the first 12 minutes of play. RWU would ultimate score three times in the period, with a tally from Delana Erickson (Concord, N.H.) at the 17:21 mark and Isabella Blessington (Harpswell, Maine) scoring twice in the final five minutes. Conversely, the Gulls managed to score five goals in the half, but their first-half lead was too much for RWU to overcome.

Blessington led RWU with two goals while Stoeppel and Erickson both added scores. Stoeppel also added three ground balls, four draw controls, and a caused turnover. Lydia Nelson (Center Moriches, N.Y.) took the loss, making 16 saves in the game.

Roger Williams (10-5, 6-1 CCC) hosts Nichols on Wednesday in the team's final game of the regular season. Endicott (11-5, 7-0 CCC) also ends the regular season on Wednesday at the University of New England.
