Women’s Lacrosse Shuts Down UNE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Roger Williams University Women's Lacrosse team shut down the University of New England Saturday afternoon with a 16-6 Commonwealth Coast Conference win.
 
Delana Erickson (Concord, N.H.) and Devon Sarazin (Falmouth, Maine) gave RWU a quick 2-0 lead before the Nor'Easters tied the game at three with a goal from Molly Camelo. Casey Conwell would put UNE up by one with 12:13 left in the first half.
 
The Hawks came back with three goals by Erickson, Shane Rivard (Easton, Conn.), and Emily Stoeppel (Brookfield, Conn.) to close out the half and take a 7-4 lead going into halftime.
 
RWU extended the lead to seven in the second half with goals from Stoeppel, Rivard, and Ashley Warren (Wlimington, Mass.) in the first ten minutes of play. UNE ended the run with another goal by Camelo with 18:01 left. However, the Hawks closed out the game on a 5-1 run to come away with the win.
 
Warren finished with five points on three goals and two assists, while Erickson notched four goals. Stoeppel went for four points, three ground balls, and two caused turnovers. Lydia Nelson (Center Moriches, N.Y.) had 13 saves in the win.
 
Roger Williams (8-3, 4-0 CCC) will head to Salve Regina on Wednesday.
