Mariah Kaiser (Portsmouth, R.I.) will play her first home game at Roger Williams University for the semi-pro team called the Rhode Island Rogues on Wednesday June 19
th.
Kaiser was a 2016 graduate of RWU and a member of the women's soccer program. She totaled 37 career goals, 19 assists, and 93 points. Going into the next phase of her life she now works at MetLife while also playing for the Rhode Island Rogues. When interviewing her, the questions and answers were as followed:
What was your experience like playing for RWU women's soccer?
Mariah: "It was the best part of my college experience. I loved all my teammates and my coaching staff and it was really unforgettable."
How did your time here playing for RWU prepare you for playing on the Rhode Island Rogues?
Mariah: "It amped up my competitive drive, it prepared me to take everything I learned in college to this program and it brought me back to play on this field."
What was it like being back on your old turf?
Mariah: "The first time I practiced on the field I was shaking from being so excited. It's great to be able to use this facility at such a beautiful campus and bring our Rhode Island Rogues team here to experience it, too."
As a current volunteer assistant coach of the RWU women's soccer team, what is some advice that you have to incoming student-athletes?
Mariah: "Prepare for sure. You can't fail to prepare so as long as you're prepared when you're coming in, you'll be ready for anything they throw at you."
What is your favorite memory, moment, or experience from playing soccer for the Hawks?
Mariah: "This is tough because there are so many but probably just my senior year as a whole. I accomplished a lot of milestones, I feel like we did great as a team, too. It was just a great way to go out and graduate."
How did playing soccer prepare you for the real world?
Mariah: "I swear I could write a book on this. Everything you learn playing sports and being a part of a team prepares you for your career whether that means in work or anything else."
Mariah and the Rhode Island Rogues practice at Roger Williams every Wednesday and have four home games coming up. She also looks forward to working with the Hawks as soon as she can for their upcoming season. Â
