How It Happened
The Hawks held Gordon to its lowest scoring output of the year and its second-lowest shooting mark from the field this year. The Fighting Scots shot only 27.7 percent from the floor in the game and connected on only three shots from downtown. In addition, RWU held Morgan Foley, the CCC's leading scorer at 25.1 points per game, to only nine points and a season-high ten turnovers.
The game opened with a high-scoring quarter, with RWU taking a 21-14 advantage entering the second. In the second, Gordon managed to pull within three with 6:18 left in the period (22-25). However, Roger Williams ended the first half on a 7-0 run in the final three minutes to take an 11-point lead into the break (36-25).
The Hawks held their double-digit lead throughout most of the third quarter. A Foley jumper helped make it a 29-38 game, but back-to-back Hawk baskets brought it back up to 13. Roger Williams would eventually go into the final period up by 17 (53-36).
The Hawk defense continued to smother Gordon in the fourth, as RWU held the Fighting Scots to only four points in the period and 1-for-12 from the field. Gordon was held scoreless over the first five minutes of the quarter as RWU cruised to the win.
