CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Women's Lacrosse team took down MIT 12-9 Wednesday afternoon in the team's first game of the 2020 season.

How It Happened
Roger Williams jumped out to a 3-0 lead with goals by
Ryleigh Cavanaugh (Manchester, N.H.),
Ashley Warren, and
Devon Sarazin (Falmouth, Maine) in the first ten minutes of the game. Then later in the half, with RWU holding on to a 4-1 lead, MIT rattled off four straight goals to take a 5-4 lead with just under ten minutes left in the first half.
Brooke McErlain would log a score with three minutes remaining to send the game into halftime tied at five.
After the break, Ellie Rabenold regained the lead for the Engineers with a free position goal shortly into the half. Two minutes later, Warren would tie the game up for RWU with her second goal of the game.
Her score would spark a 6-0 run for Roger Williams that saw the Hawks take an 11-6 lead with just over ten minutes remaining in the game. The Engineers were able to add two goals in the final three minutes of the game to pull within three. However they ran out of time to complete the comeback, allowing RWU to get the season-opening win.
