FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Roger Williams University Women's Lacrosse team dropped a close 6-9 matchup to #14 nationally-ranked Mary Washington Saturday afternoon in the team's first game of its Spring Break trip.

How It Happened
Mary Washington's Clare Madden picked up the first score of the contest three minutes into the game. The Eagles would take on two more goals over the next 20 minutes for a 3-0 lead with 11:38 left in the opening half.
Lily Cunningham got the Hawks on the board with a free position goal with ten minutes remaining in the period, but another Mary Washington goal gave the Eagles a 4-1 lead going into halftime.

Lydia Nelson was busy in net in the first half, stopping 11 shots in the period to help keep the Hawks in the game.
Madden opened the second half with her third goal of the game. From there, both teams would trade goals back and forth over the next 15 minutes, leading to a 7-3 lead for Mary Washington. The Eagles would extend the lead to 9-4 with just over two minutes remaining in the game.
The Hawks would score two more goals in the final two minutes of the game but did not have enough time left to complete the comeback.
