How It Happened
In the first set, the Hawks scored four of the first five points to begin the match, with Gordon committing four attack errors. Gordon would tie up the set at five, at which point the two sides would go back and forth. The Hawks would take the lead before Gordon would come back and tie up the match. The turning point for Roger Williams came with the set tied at 14. A 6-2 Hawk run helped RWU go up 20-16. That cushion would help Roger Williams take the set 25-20.

Gordon came out with three straight points to begin the second set. They would build the lead to 7-3 before the Hawks tied things up at eight. With the Fighting Scots holding a slim 10-9 lead, Gordon rolled off an 8-2 run to take an 18-11 lead. The seven-point lead would be too much for the Hawks to overcome, falling 16-25 in the set.

The Hawks got off to a better start in the third, jumping out to a 7-3 advantage to kick off the set. The Fighting Scots would creep back into the game until they knotted the game up at ten apiece. From there, a kill by Valerie Nilan kick-started a 7-2 run that would put Gordon up by five. The Hawks managed to pull within two late (20-22), but Gordon scored the final three points to the game for a 25-20 win and a 2-1 lead.

Gordon logged a 7-4 lead to begin the fourth set, which would prove to be a significant enough buffer against the Hawks. Roger Williams was able to pull within two (7-9) but five consecutive points by Gordon gave the Fighting Scots at 14-7 advantage. The Hawks had trouble overcoming the deficit, not being able to pull closer than three the rest of the way. A final kill by Nilan made it a 25-21 game in Gordon's favor for the clinching set.
