BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Sailing team had its docket full this past weekend, racing at five regattas over the weekend including an appearance at the Women's Atlantic Coast Championships.
Hawk Highlights
Roger Williams' top finish on the weekend came at the Sister Esther Open at Connecticut College. RWU posted a third-place result at the single-day regatta, taking advantage of a shifty breeze throughout the day.
At the Lark Invitational, the Hawks launched two boats to come away with sixth place and ninth place. The event saw a good day of racing on the first day with plentiful breeze; unfortunately that would not be the case on Sunday as racing had to be abandoned due to a lack of breeze. At the Danmark Trophy, Roger Williams posted a seventh-place result, having to do deal with light wind across the two days of racing.
The Moody Trophy found Roger Williams take ninth place overall, while at the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship, the Hawks claimed 11
th place overall. The team finished 27 points away from qualifying for the championships round, with
Claire Siegel-Wilson (Portland, Ore.) and
Jaqui Frode (Nassau, Bahamas) taking sixth in A Division, their best regatta finish to date.
