BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Women's Basketball team continued its early-season dominance with a 79-47 win over CCC opponent Curry College Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened
A subpar shooting performance by Curry over the course of the game helped push Roger Williams to the win. The Colonels shot only 26.3 percent from the field (14-57) and only 15.4 percent from three-point range (4-26).
The game was close early on, as Curry erased cut a 16-9 deficit in the first quarter with 3:10 left. Curry scored the final five points of the period to make it 16-14 entering the second.
The game would turn in Roger Williams' favor in the second quarter. The Hawks put on a full-court press that stifled the Colonel offense. Roger Williams held Curry scoreless over the first five minutes of play while scoring 10 unanswered points to extend their lead to 12 (26-14). The Hawks would force five turnovers in the quarter and hold the Colonels to just 18.8 percent shooting (3-16) in the period to take a 33-25 lead into halftime.
In the third, Curry kept within striking distance in the early part of the period. The Colonels trailed 34-42 with 4:30 left in the quarter. However, Roger Williams broke away from Curry over the remainder of the period, closing out the quarter on a 15-2 run. The Hawks kept pushing the ball on the break over that stretch, with
Katie Galligan (Pembroke, Mass.),
Nikki Rosa (Nahant, Mass.), and
Karli Opalka (Southbury, Conn.) combining for eight fastbreak points in that closing run.
Roger Williams would take a commanding 21-point lead going into the fourth, leading 57-36. From there, the Hawks never looked back in the fourth and rolled to their sixth straight win.
