BIDDEFORD, Maine – Roger Williams University Men's Basketball guard
Eli Harris (Falmouth, Mass.) received Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Week honors while
Mac Annus (Belmont, Mass.) earned Rookie of the Week recognition for the week of November 29
th through December 5
th, as it was announced by the conference offices on Monday. The duo was effective and efficient offensively for the Hawks, leading the team to a 2-0 week with wins over Wentworth and Curry.
Harris is no stranger to conference recognition as he was an All-CCC Second Team selection as a sophomore, however, this is the first time he has received a weekly award from the CCC. In addition, Harris is the first men's basketball player to receive player of the week honors since Austin Coene was honored for the week of February 4
th through the 10
th in 2019.
The senior captain was exceptional for RWU this week, averaging 29.5 points in the team's two contests. He opened the week on Wednesday with a season-high 26-point showing against Wentworth while securing eight rebounds and a steal. Along the way, he went 9-for-14 from the field, 4-for-7 from long range, and was perfect in his four attempts from the charity stripe in the Hawks 78-69 win. He followed that up by taking his game to the next level on Saturday against Curry, eclipsing his career-high for points with 32 on 8-for-12 shooting, 5-for-9 from three-point range, and connecting on all 11 of his free throw attempts. He also secured a pair of steals and dished out three assists in the 98-89 victory.
For Annus, this marks the second time in four weeks that he was named rookie of the week by the conference.
He was a solid contributor in the scoring column recording 13 points in each contest for the Hawks, but he really made his presence felt defensively and in the passing game. Against Wentworth he only shot 3-of-12 overall and 1-for-6 from range but did much of his damage from the free throw line, hitting six of his seven attempts, all-the-while, he dished out a season-best six assists and snagged a pair of steals. He shot much better against Curry, going 5-for-9 overall and 2-of-6 from deep while distributing a game-best five helpers and securing a trio of steals.
