Women’s Lacrosse Claims Second CCC Title In Program History

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Women's Lacrosse team utilized a late rally to pull away from Endicott College to claim the 2021 Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship by a 14-8 score.

How It Happened
Roger Williams jumped out early to a 3-0 lead in the first five minutes of play with a pair of goals by Lily Cunningham and one by Devon Sarazin (Falmouth, Maine). Endicott would come back within one with back-to-back scores by Kiana Napolitano.
 
A Julia Kelley goal made it 4-2 in RWU's favor with 19:34 left to play. Six minutes later, Gabriella Prisco tallied a score to bring the Gulls back within one.
 
The Hawks would build the lead back to three (6-3) with free position goals by Flahive and Cunningham with just under five minutes left in the half. Morgan Pike would log a score for Endicott at the 2:49 mark but another free position goal for Flahive sent the Hawks up 7-4 entering halftime.
 
Endicott opened the second half with a pair of goals in the first ten minutes of play to tie the game at seven apiece. Flahive would win the following draw, take the ball down the field, earn the foul and convert the free position goal.
 
Flahive would score two more consecutive goals that would be part of a 6-0 Hawk run over the following 14 minutes of play. Roger Williams would hold a commanding 13-7 lead with five minutes left in the game. Both sides would trade goals but RWU held on to claim the conference title.
