Amelia Monahan (Bristol, N.H.) of the Roger Williams University Field Hockey team claimed Commonwealth Coast Conference Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week honors for the week of September 6
th through September 12
th, it was announced on Monday. Monahan was a crucial part of the Hawks offensive attack in a pair of blowout victories scoring three goals while assisting on two more.
It is the first time she has earned weekly conference honors.
On Wednesday, in the Hawks 6-0 win over the University of Saint Joseph's (Conn.), Monahan started for the Hawks and netted a goal early in the fourth quarter before assisting on another score later in the frame.
Her true standout performance came on Saturday against Elms College. In the second quarter of RWU's 7-0 win, she found the back of the net twice and added an assist later in the contest.
Thus far this season, Monahan leads the Hawks and is second in the CCC with nine points on the season. In addition, she leads the squad and is tied for second in the conference with three goals, and paces the team and is tied for the CCC lead with a trio of assists.
