BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Women's Volleyball team suffered a pair of setbacks to Clark University and Williams College in a non-conference tri-match. Clark outlasted RWU 3-2 in the opening match while Williams took the final match 3-0 over RWU. Williams also defeated Clark 3-0 in the second match of the day.

How It Happened
Clark jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a 25-19 win in the opening set, pulling away from the Hawks late with a 9-3 run to break a 13-all tie. The Cougars took the second set 25-18, taking advantage of five Hawk attack errors over the final 11 points of the set. Roger Williams would come back in the third set, overcoming a four-point deficit with a 6-0 run to ultimately take the set 25-21. The Hawks would force a deciding fifth set after winning game four 25-18, punctuated by a
Katherine Pickard (St. Petersburg, Fla.) ace. In the tiebreak set, both sides traded points throughout a majority of the set. However Clark would score the final four points with the set tied at 11 to take the match.
Against Williams, the Ephs grabbed the first set of the match 25-22. Williams utilized timely kills late to build their lead to six (17-23) and hold on. In the second set, Williams capitalized on later Hawk miscues to take the set 25-19. Three RWU attack errors, a ball handling error, and a Williams serve ace helped break a 16-16 tie in the Ephs' favor. RWU began the third set with four straight points before Williams used three straight aces to take a 9-6 lead. The Ephs would not relinquish their lead as the took the set 25-19 and the match.
