BIDDEFORD, Maine – Javi Beltran (Madrid, Spain) of the Roger Williams University Men's Soccer team was named Commonwealth Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the week of September 13
th through September 19
th, it was announced on Monday afternoon. Beltran tallied a hat trick and added an assist in the Hawks 4-3 victory over Wentworth to earn the honor.
Despite making the CCC Third Team as a freshman in 2019, this is the first time Beltran has earned weekly conference recognition, and it was well deserved as he was pivotal to the Hawks victory on Saturday afternoon. He was a catalyst for the RWU offense, scoring a trio of goals to keep the team in the game before assisting on the game winning score in the 89
th minute to lift Roger Williams to victory.
His hat trick in the contest is the first such performance for the RWU Men's Soccer team since Tyler Kuchenbecker netted three goals against Gordon College on October 28
th, 2014. Meanwhile, his seven total points is the most the team has seen since Daniel Caruso had that many against Eastern Nazarene College on September 10
th, 2011.
Beltran earns the third weekly award from the CCC over the first three weeks of the season for the men's soccer team after
Jack Avellar (Orleans, Mass.) and
Matt Bagley (Trumbull, Conn.) earned conference offensive and rookie of the week recognition for the week of August 30
th through September 5
th.
