BIDDEFORD, Maine – Roger Williams University Women's Soccer junior captain
Leah Yucius (Duxbury, Mass.) claimed Commonwealth Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors for the week of September 20
th through September 26
th, it was announced by the conference offices on Monday. Yucius scored a goal in each of the two games the Hawks played this week to continue her strong play to start the season.
This marks the first time in Yucius' career that she has been recognized for her play by the CCC, and it was well deserved. She scored once in the Hawks loss to Worcester Polytechnic Institute last Tuesday but her true standout performance of the week came on Saturday. Yucius single-handedly outscored the Colonels in that contest, netting a pair of goals to lead the Hawks to a 6-1 victory.
Additionally, Yucius has now scored in each of the past three games for RWU and has a career-high six goals on the season.
While it is the first time Yucius has earned CCC weekly honors, it is the third time the RWU Women's Soccer team has gotten recognized this year after
Bianca Robbins (Johnston, R.I.) and
Morgan Strassburg (Danbury, Conn.) were each recognized three weeks ago.
