BRISTOL, RI. - The Roger Williams Men's Tennis team rolled to a victory over UMass-Boston, 8-1 in a Thursday evening showdown at the RWU Tennis Courts.

At # 1 in duos,
Jon Trevethan (Berlin, Conn.) and
Dan Tocco (East Quogue, N.Y.) captured an 8-4 victory over UMBT's Nandish Shah (Ahmedabad, India) and Rudraksh Trivedi (Gujarat, India). At #2, the Beacons won their lone point of the match, as Alexander Comerchero (Brookline, Mass.) and Roy Platteel (Holbrook, Mass.) defeated RWU's
Matt Glassman (West Hartford, Conn.) and
Ryan Schuck (Glastonbury, Conn.) in a hard fought 8-4 match. At doubles # 3,
Tyler Cain (Montpelier, Vt.) and
Alex Smith (Bedford, N.H.) secured a win against the Beacons' Miguel Beltran (Ashland, Mass.) and Kevin Kubinec (East Boston, Mass.) with a final score of 8-3.
At singles, the #1 match displayed Trevethan dominating Shah 6-3, 6-1. Tocco went head-to-head with Comerchero, and won 6-4, 6-4 in the #2 matchup. In the #3 matchup, Glassman competed with UMBT's Kubinec, sealing a 7-6, 6-1 win. Schuck beat Platteel in the #4 match 6-4, 7-5. The #5 match between Smith and Trivedi ended in a retirement from Trivedi; resulting in a Roger Williams victory, 2-6, 5-3. Finally, the #6 match between Hawks' Cain and Rez Yuspi (Somerville, Mass.) resulted in a 7-6, 7-6 win for Cain.
