BIDDEFORD, Maine –
Bianca Robbins (Johnston, R.I.) and
Morgan McCutcheon (Danbury, Conn.) grabbed Commonwealth Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, for their performances during the week of August 30
th through September 5
th, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon. Both were driving forces behind a tremendous, 3-0 opening week of play for the Roger Williams University Women's Soccer team, while also claiming the Rhode Island Cup on Saturday, September 4
th.
For Robbins, this marks the first time she has earned CCC Offensive Player of the Week honors though she did receive conference Rookie of the Week honors four times as a freshman. Across the team's first three contests Robbins tallied seven goals including the game-winning score in each game.
In the Hawks season opening win against Framingham State, Robbins provided a pair of goals but that was not even her finest performance of the week. That came on Friday against Rhode Island College. She found the back of the net four times, the most by a Hawk in a single game since 2015. Her most important score of the week came on Saturday, recording the lone tally of the contest against Johnson and Wales in a 1-0 win to claim the Rhode Island Cup.
For McCutcheon, this is the first time she has earned conference player of the week honors. She stood in goal for a total of 135:00 minutes across two starts while going 2-0-0 in net and stopping all 11 shots she faced.
She tended the first half, making one save, in the team's season-opening win over Framingham State, but her stand-out performance came on Saturday night against Johnson and Wales. She was truly brilliant in that game recording her third career shutout, making ten saves including a fantastic stop on a penalty kick to preserve the lead and guide the Hawks to victory.
