BOSTON, Mass.– The Roger Williams University women's soccer team got by Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opponent Suffolk on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Rams 2-1.
The Hawks'
Coco Marrelli (Fairfield, Conn.) saved nine shots in the match, while the Hawks were outshot 18-11.
Suffolk struck first scoring in the third minute of the match off the foot of Klaudia Rushi after receiving a pass from Hayley Long.
The Hawks then scored 1:18 later when
Grace Kelly (Milford, N.H.) sent the ball in off a corner kick, that
Raffaella Brunetti (North Providence, R.I.) then put into the back of the net to level the score at 1-1. In the 29
th minute
Sarah Newman (Sayville, N.Y.) found the back of the net off a ball from
Julia Robbins (Johnston, R.I.), scoring the game winning goal.
Roger Williams (5-6, 2-1 CCC) will host Wesleyan in non-conference action on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 7 pm on Bayside Field. They will then travel for a match on Thursday, Oct. 6 against UMass Dartmouth.
