BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University women's soccer team played host to Endicott on Homecoming Saturday, playing the Gulls to a 1-1 draw in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action.
Prior to the match, The Hawks celebrated their five seniors for their efforts in the classroom and on the field during their careers.
Cassidy Collins (Wilmington, Mass.),
Leah Yucius (Duxbury, Mass.),
Bianca Robbins (Johnston, R.I.),
Mollie Feldman (Highland Falls, N.Y.), and
Sami Brody (Clinton, Mass.) were all celebrated for their efforts.
Endicott took a total of 18 shots, placing eight on net as
Coco Marrelli (Fairfield, Conn.) tallied seven saves in the match for the Hawks.
After playing to a scoreless draw in the first half, Roger Williams was the first team to find the back of the net, with
Sofie Morris (Bristol, R.I.) firing a shot after being on the receiving end of a free kick from
Grace Kelly (Milford, N.H.) that carried over the defenders, hitting a post before Morris finished with a shot from about five feet out, 2:29 into the second half.
Endicott struck to level the match 12:50 later, scoring after Alexandria Dostie's shot was saved by Marrelli, but the ball ricocheted across the net, finding the foot of Lindsey Papa, which Papa then scored off the rebound.
Roger Williams (5-8-3, 2-2-2 CCC) will host Fitchburg State in a non-conference tilt on Monday, Oct. 17 at 7 pm. The Hawks will then close out the regular season playing three straight CCC opponents. They will face Salve Regina and Western New England on the road, before closing out their regular season slate against Nichols on Bayside Field.
