BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University women's volleyball fell to Suffolk 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-12) in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Tuesday evening.
Brianna Picchietti (Batavia, Ill.) led the Hawks with seven kills while
Jillian Smith (New Milford, Conn.) and
Jasmine Babbitt (Charlestown, R.I.) followed with four and three respectively.
Ava Mattiucci (North Kingstown, R.I.) had 12 assists in the match, while Babbitt had five blocks, and
Ella Hohmann (Bethpage, N.Y.) was in on four blocks.
After being down 10-4 in the opening set, the Hawks rattled off four points, to pull within two, but a kill by Alina Nowakowski, sparked three straight points for the Rams and a stretch where they outscored the Rams 8-2, as they took the first set.
Roger Williams led 16-11 in the first set, before the Rams offense came to life, winning the set by five. Suffolk closed out the match by scoring the final eight points of the match.
Roger Williams (5-17, 1-5 CCC) will travel to Western New England in a key CCC match at the Golden Bears on Saturday, Oct. 22 before hosting Gordon in their home finale on Wednesday, Oct. 26.
