Women’s Soccer: Hawks Locked in at No. 4 Entering CCC Tournament with Win Over Nichols

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University women's soccer team came out to a fast start in their regular season finale against Nichols on Tuesday evening at Bayside Field, coming off the turf with a 6-4 victory against their Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) foe.
 
The Hawks and Bison both put 10 shots on target in the match, with the Hawks converting over half of those attempts.
 
After playing the opening 10 minutes, Bianca Robbins (Johnston, R.I.) got the Hawks on the scoreboard, firing a shot from the top of the box, that was saved, Bianca Robbins then got her rebounded shot and fired into the back of the net for the opening goal of the contest 10:27 into the match.
 
Bianca Robbins then scored her second goal of the game 2:01 later, when Julia Robbins (Johnston, R.I.) dished a pass into Bianca Robbins, that Bianca Robbins then one touched by a defender and put past the goalkeeper going up 2-0. 
 
Bianca Robbins then completed the hat trick 16:13 into the contest when Raffaella Brunetti (North Providence, R.I.) fired a shot on target that the Bison keeper saved, Bianca Robbins then picked up the ball in front of the net, firing a shot into the goal.
 
Sabrina Sherman (Brentwood, N.H.) then got in on the action, after receiving a deep pass from Brunetti, collecting the ball, and firing past the goalkeeper, taking an 4-0 lead. Nichols then scored in the 42nd minute of play when Rajchel Smardon snuck a shot by the Hawks.
 
Early in the second half, Falyn Hunt scored her ninth goal of the season, to cur the Hawks' lead to two, before Sofie Morris scored her first of the game, and Bianca Robbins scored her fourth goal of the game and Conference leading 16th goal of the season, taking a 6-2 lead.
 
The Bison scored twice in the final 10 minutes of play to close out the match.
 
Roger Williams (8-9-3, 4-3-2 CCC) will host No. 5 seed Gordon on Saturday in a CCC Tournament Semifinal on Bayside Field.  The full CCC Tournament bracket will be released on Wednesday, Oct. 26, with the Quarterfinals taking place on Saturday, Oct. 29.
