BRISTOL, R.I. – The No. 4 Roger Williams University women's soccer team advanced to the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Semifinals after defeating No. 5 Gordon Saturday in a CCC Tournament Quarterfinal on Bayside Field.
The Hawks controlled play, outshooting Gordon 18-5, putting seven shots on target to the Fighting Scots two.
Coco Marrelli (Fairfield, Conn.) was able to keep a blank sheet in the matchup.
After the two teams played to a scoreless draw in the first half, the Hawks finally broke through when
Sofie Morris (Bristol, R.I.) scored the game winning goal with just under 30 minutes remaining in regulation. The Hawks continued to apply pressure, with the Hawks breaking through for a second time in the contest when
Bianca Robbins (Johnston, R.I.) broke through a pair of defenders, in the 85
th minute, putting a ball into the net to seal the contest.
Roger Williams (9-9-3, 4-3-2 CCC) will travel to top seeded Western New England on Tuesday, Nov. 1 for a CCC Semifinal tilt.
