BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University women's volleyball team dropped a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) match Tuesday evening in the Campus Rec Center, falling to Salve Regina, 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-16).
The Hawks were led by
Kaylee Jackson (Naugatuck, Conn.) who had 10 kills in the match, while
Kristen Dansereau (Killingworth, Conn.) and
Brianna Picchietti (Batavia, Ill.) each had five.
Jasmine Babbit (Charlestown, R.I.) and Picchietti had three block assists in the match, while
Ava Mattiucci (North Kingstown, R.I.) registered 16 assists,
Soraya Bussatti-Espanol (Arecibo, Puerto Rico) recorded 13 digs.
Playing Salve Regina, who came into the match undefeated in conference play, jumped out to an early seven-point lead, before Roger Williams cut the deficit to five, but the Seahawks were to much as they defeated the Hawks in the set by 10.
After battling to 14-12 lead, the Seahawks pulled away in the second set to win by six. Roger Williams led in the third set 11-10, but Salve Regina then pulled away scoring on runs throughout the rest of the set, on their way to a 25-16 set victory.
Roger Williams (5-10, 1-3 CCC) will host Coast Guard on Friday, Oct. 7 at 6 pm, before traveling to UMass Boston for a tri-match with the Beacons and Springfield on Saturday, Oct. 8.
