BRISTOL, R.I. — The Roger Williams University women's basketball team fell to Tufts on Tuesday night in a non-conference game, 57-48.
Early in the first quarter,
Nikki Rosa (Nahant, Mass.) scored for the Hawks, assisted by
Kendi Barnard (Bedford, N.H.).
Katie Galligan (Pembroke, Mass.),
Caroline Elie (Rockland, Mass.),
Sophie Araneo (Branford, Conn.), and
Sophia Coppola (Madison, Conn.) also in turn, bringing the score at the end of the quarter to 18-12 with the Jumbos in the lead.
Elie scored off of a fast break in the second quarter. She was the top scorer for the Hawks, earning 18 points total. With just under six minutes left in the first half,
Araneo scored a layup off of a fastbreak.
Araneo scored a total of 14 points for the Hawks and took 10 rebounds.
The Hawks fought hard to keep up with the Jumbos, earning more points off of turnovers and fastbreaks, 13-11 and 10-4 respectively.
The Roger Williams women's basketball (1-1, 0-0 CCC) team goes head-to-head against Babson on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 1 p.m. They will then host UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday, Nov. 22.
