SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – A last-second goal pushed Springfield College past the Roger Williams University Women's Lacrosse team, as the Pride escaped with a 10-9 win over the Hawks.

How It Happened
Nikki Norton (Braintree, Mass.) notched the first goal of 2022, converting off of a pass from Lily Cunningham (Melrose, Mass.). Molly Covarrubias (Framingham, Mass.) responded for Springfield, but the Hawks ended the first quarter with goals from Cunningham, Mandy Beck (Old Saybrook, Conn.), and Devon Sarazin (Falmouth, Maine) to take a 4-1 lead into the second.
 
Ryleigh Cavanaugh (Manchester, N.H.) added a goal with 8:01 left in the half to make it 5-1, but Springfield scored five unanswered goals spanning the following 23 minutes of play to take a 6-5 lead with 5:50 left in the third quarter. Back-to-back goals by Cunningham and Beck put RWU back on top with 13:37 left in the game.
 
Both sides would trade goals, with RWU holding a slim 9-8 lead with 5:44 to play. However, the Pride to knot the game with under four minutes to play on a player-up goal by Katie Martel (Hartland, Conn.). Then with just eight seconds left in regulation, Jade O'Connor (Baltimore, Md.) logged the game-winning tally for Springfield.
