NORTON, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Women's Lacrosse team earned its first victory of 2022 with an 18-5 win over Wheaton College Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened
The Hawks put the game away early with seven unanswered goals in the first quarter.
Devon Sarazin (Falmouth, Maine) scored 18 seconds into the game for Roger Williams, and from there the rout was on. Sarazin and
Nikki Norton (Braintree, Mass.) both scored twice in the quarter while
Karli Chapin (Cape Elizabeth, Maine),
Lily Cunningham (Melrose, Mass.), and
Emma Terino (East Meadow, N.Y.) each added scores to put RWU up 7-0 entering the second quarter.
Avonlea LeBeau (North Branford, Conn.) got the Lyons on the board a minute and a half into the second, but that would be the only score allowed by the RWU defense in the period. Roger Williams added four more goals in the quarter from Cunningham,
Ryleigh Cavanaugh (Manchester, N.H.), and two from
Mandy Beck (Old Saybrook, Conn.). RWU would go into halftime with a commanding 10-1 lead.
In the third, Roger Williams edged the Lyons in scoring, putting up three goals to Wheaton's two. Beck scored twice for RWU while
Grace Paliseno (Brightwaters, N.Y.) added one tally. For the Lyons, Lara Finnie (Westfield, Mass.) and Jessie Kilburn (North Branford, Conn.) scored in the quarter.
The Hawks went into the fourth quarter with a 14-3 lead and the game well in hand. RWU added four more goals from Cunningham, Cavanaugh and two from
Julia Kelley (Foxborough, Mass.).
