Hart Collects First CCC Player Of The Week Honor

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Roger Williams University Men's Basketball senior forward Drew Hart (Cheshire, Conn.) received Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Week honors for the week of January 31st through February 6th, as it was announced by the conference offices on Monday. Hart was an integral part of the Hawks on both ends of the court helping to lead the team to a 3-0 record during the week.

Although this is Hart's first weekly award, this is not the first time Hart has been honored by the CCC for his contributions towards the RWU Men's Basketball program as Hart has claimed All-CCC Third team and been named to the Academic All-CCC Team following each of the last two seasons.

The fifth-year captain was a scoring machine this week, averaging 25.0 points over the three games while compiling 19 rebounds, four assists, and two blocks.

Starting off the week at Western New England, Hart was lights out, dropping 21 points, blocking one on the defensive end, but it was the trip to Gordon where Hart really shined.

The big man scored 30 on a season-high 12 made field goals that included another season-high 3-7 from deep. In the process, Hart also became the newest Hawk to join the 1,000-point club during the contest. On the other end of the court, Hart grabbed eight defensive rebounds helping the Hawks secure the victory.

In the final matchup of the week that saw Roger Williams take on Endicott, Hart once again stood out, scoring the Hawks' first seven points and guiding the team to a 20-point victory. Hart scored with deadly efficiency for the second straight contest, connecting on 60% of his shots from the field and 3-of-7 from range. Hart also notched a block and a steal in the victory while securing nine more caroms.

On the season, Hart leads RWU in rebounding (6.0), assists (3.1) and blocks (0.7) with those marks also ranking 21st, ninth, and 13th respectively in the CCC. He also sits eighth in scoring at 18.3 while shooting at a .551/.351/.811 clip, all three marks rank in the top-20 in the conference this season among qualifiers.
