Box Score NEWPORT, R.I. — The Roger Williams Men's Tennis team began Commonwealth Coast Conference play Saturday afternoon with a 9-0 shutout victory over in-state rival Salve Regina University.
 
Hawk Highlights
The Hawks rolled through doubles play, sweeping the Seahawks while dropping only three sets. Jon Trevethan (Berlin, Conn.) and Dan Tocco (East Quogue, N.Y.) grabbed an 8-2 win over Alex Colon and Sam Middleton at #1, while Ryan Schuck (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Alex Smith (Bedford, N.H.) set down Riley Kehoe/ Sam Johnson without losing a set. Tyler Cain (Montpelier, Vt.) and Matt Glassman (West Hartford, Conn.) wrapped up doubles play with an 8-1 win over Raimundo Bascunan and John Cooper.
 
Schuck continued his dominance at #4 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Kehoe, finishing his day perfect in all sets. Trevethan took down Middleton 6-2, 6-1 at #1 singles while Tocco felled Colon 6-1, 6-1 at #2. Johnny Baldyga (Simsbury, Conn.) collected a 6-3, 6-1 win at #5, with Cain winning his #6 singles match 6-0, 6-2 against Alex Azary. Glassman had the tightest singles battle on the day for the Hawks, but still managed to defeat Bascunan 7-6, 6-4.
